Chem-Trend receives Aerospace IPS Certification with Zyvax® 1070W EU: low slip & enhanced tack properties in one water-based release agent solution

Chem-Trend, a company of the Freudenberg Chemical Specialities Group and a global leader in the development of high-quality release agentspurging compounds, and other process chemicals and additives, announces the IPS certification of its innovative release agent Zyvax® 1070W EU (IPS 12-02-002-05) by a major European aerospace OEM. This milestone reinforces Chem-Trend’s commitment to advancing composite manufacturing through more innovative, more localized solutions.

Low-slip and enhanced tack properties

Zyvax® 1070W EU is specifically designed for prepreg applications in Automated Tape Laying (ATL) and Automated Fiber Placement (AFP). The product combines low-slip release performance with tack-enhancing properties, enabling precise fiber placement and clean demolding in a single, water-based solution.

Zyvax® 1070W EU requires no intermediate curing between application layers, significantly reducing tool preparation time and supporting continuous, high-speed workflows. Whether manually wiped on or applied via spray systems, it is easy to integrate into various production setups. For automated spray application, Chem-Trend offers SprayIQ™: a precise spray measurement device that ensures efficient and consistent release agent application and provides instant data reporting, also allowing for product consumption forecasts and better ordering timing.

Water-based, silicone free formulation

One of the product’s most impactful features is its silicone-free formulation. This reduces the risk of surface contamination on molded parts, allowing for faster post-processing and
seamless downstream operations such as bonding and painting.

In addition to its technical performance, Zyvax® 1070W EU supports Chem-Trend’s broader commitment to sustainability and workplace safety. The product is water-based, PFAS-free, and non-flammable, helping manufacturers reduce VOC emissions and create safer working environments for their teams.

A team effort

The development process behind this release agent illustrates how customer input and cross-functional collaboration drive innovation at Chem-Trend. Sam Dethloff, Director Sales – Tire, Composites and Rubber, states: “This project is yet another example of how Chem-Trend’s talented professionals work in in close collaboration with customers to bring high impact technology to the market. This achievement reflects our commitment to helping the aerospace industry produce more parts, with higher quality, and in a safer way.”

Localization

Zyvax® 1070W EU is being produced in Europe ensuring short delivery routes and fast availability for European customers. “At Chem-Trend, we believe that localization is key in the current market situation of uncertainty with regards to political decisions and tariffs,” said Christophe Labrot, Industry Development Manager for Composites in Europe. “Zyvax® 1070W EU is more than just a technical solution – it’s a step forward for our customers in achieving safer, more sustainable composite manufacturing.”

With Zyvax® 1070W EU, Chem-Trend delivers a smarter, more efficient way to produce high-quality aerospace components – backed by certified performance and a deep understanding of industry needs.
