Chem-Trend at Fakuma 2024: purging and maintenance solutions for less downtime and scrap

Fakuma 2024 from October 15 until 19 at Friedrichshafen, Germany is the place where European thermoplastics experts will meet. Chem-Trend, a company of the Freudenberg Chemical Specialities Group and a global leader in the development of high-quality release agents, purging compounds, and other process chemicals and additives, is excited to showcase its latest innovations in purging compounds and mould maintenance products for the thermoplastics industry in hall A5 at booth 5225.

Chem-Trend Ultra Purge Reinigungsgranulate - eine recycelbare Lösung

Ultra Purge™ purging compounds: a recyclable solution

Plastics processors are reliant on high-performance purging compounds that meet the requirements of multiple materials, machines and applications. Chem-Trend’s range of Ultra Purge™ purging compounds provides cost-effective and efficient solutions for colour and material changes. Ultra Purge™ purging compounds can be recycled, sold back to scrap dealers, or mixed in with regrind and moulded into parts. A 2022 study performed by Fraunhofer Institute shows that recycling Ultra Purge™ up to a special percentage with virgin resin does not affect the chemical and physical properties of the final product.

Facilitating restart procedures: Self-cleaning technology for purging screw and barrel

The latest Ultra Purge™ technology is a ready-to-use purging compound that speeds up colour and material changes as well as the cleaning of the screw, and barrel of injection moulding machines and extruders. Ultra Purge™ efficiently evacuates contaminants, colours and carbonized polymers. The advanced “self-emptying” technology prevents the purging compound from remaining in the system or mixing with the following processing material. Since the purging compound does not stick to metal, pulling the screw is also much easier. Chem-Trend’s new Ultra Purge™ technology helps get production back on track even faster.

Meeting challenges in blown film extrusion: reducing downtime and scrap

For many blown film processors, maintaining the integrity of “the bubble” during purging is a crucial consideration when evaluating purging compounds. Chem-Trend has now developed a tailored solution to meet the specific requirements of companies in the blown film sector. The latest Ultra Purge™ technology for the blown film industry preserves the bubble during purging of the extruder and die, significantly reducing downtime. “Colour change on the fly” and the fact that the screen pack can be cleaned at the same time and can also stay in place during and after purging, results in up to 80% less downtime. This latest Ultra Purge™ technology effectively removes carbonized built-up polymer and colour residues. It can be recycled in a closed-loop system, saving further costs.

Complete system for regular maintenance routine: optimized efficiency and lower costs

Chem-Trend’s range of Lusin® mould maintenance products and release agents keep injection moulds in optimal condition, increasing production efficiency and lifetime of moulds and tools. As part of a regular maintenance routine, Lusin® cleaners, lubricants, and mould protectants complement each other ideally. Cleaning and degreasing agents help remove deposits. Anticorrosion agents keep moulds and tools in optimal condition even when stored over long periods. Lubricants avoid seizing up or jamming of moving parts. Coatings for preforms and bottles help prevent scratching and ensure high quality end products.
