On Track in Sustainability – Reducing Water Consumption with HERA™
How can we make die casting more sustainable? How can we increase our handprint by helping our customers to reduce their own footprint?
At Chem-Trend, we’re always on track in sustainability. With HERA™, our High Efficiency Release Agent, we’re transforming aluminium die casting. Developed as part of a research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany, HERA™ is designed to increase the utilization efficiency of energy and resources in the entire process chain of aluminium die casting.
Now, let’s watch the video and spotlight three HERA™-related benefits:

Enhancing water efficiency: HERA™’s fresh approach to die casting
HERA™ release agents are applied using the micro-spray process, which eliminates the need for a high dilution rate of the release agent. This significantly reduces the consumption of fresh water in the application of the release agent, contributing to more sustainable water usage in the die casting process.
Zeroing in on Waste: How HERA™ is making wastewater a thing of the past
With the correct application of the micro-spray process, very little to no wastewater is generated that would otherwise need to be treated or disposed of at high cost. This not only leads to water conservation but also reduces the environmental impact associated with wastewater treatment.
Powering Down: HERA™’s Role in Reducing Energy Consumption in Die Casting
The micro-spray process used to apply HERA™ does not lower the temperature of the moulds, significantly reducing temperature shocks. This results in less energy being required to reheat the moulds, thereby reducing overall energy consumption in the die casting process.
