Two Chem-Trend Zyvax® solutions receive IPS certification for aerospace composites

New certification for Zyvax® WaterShield™ EU and Zyvax® Sealer 1028W EU by a major European aerospace OEM

Chem-Trend, a company of the Freudenberg Chemical Specialities Group and a global leader in the development of high-quality release agents, purging compounds, and other process chemicals and additives, announces the IPS certification of two additional Zyvax® solutions for aerospace composite manufacturing: Zyvax® WaterShield™ EU (IPS 12-02-002-06) and Zyvax® Sealer 1028W EU (IPS 12-02-005-01).

The certifications reinforce Chem-Trend’s position as a trusted partner for advanced composite molding and further expand its portfolio with IPS (Individual Product Specification) approval from a major European aerospace OEM.

With the latest approvals, Chem-Trend offers one of the broadest portfolios of water-based release system technologies with IPS approval from this major European aerospace OEM available to the aerospace market. The approved portfolio now includes Zyvax® Departure™ (IPS 12-02-002-01), Zyvax® TakeOff™ (IPS 12-02-002-03), Zyvax® 1070W EU (IPS 12-02-002-05), Zyvax® WaterShield™ EU (IPS 12-02-002-06), and Zyvax® Sealer 1028W EU (IPS 12-02-005-01).

High-slip performance for demanding aerospace molding processes

Zyvax® WaterShield™ EU is a water-based, semi-permanent release agent designed to deliver multiple releases in demanding molding operations. It provides high slip and lubricity, high gloss, PFAS-free performance, and thermal stability up to 260°C (500°F).

In aerospace composite manufacturing, Zyvax® WaterShield™ EU is particularly relevant for applications where high slip and high lubricity are required. It is recommended for RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) processes and is especially well suited for anodized aluminum molds, supporting reliable demolding performance in demanding production environments.

Durable mold sealing to support process reliability

Zyvax® Sealer 1028W EU is a water-based mold sealer developed to treat chemical and physical bonding sites on mold surfaces. It creates a durable film with superior abrasion resistance and helps reduce mold downtime by extending the number of releases between cleaning cycles. Designed for composite molds with and without tooling gel coat, it may also be used on machined composite and metallic mold substrates.

With the IPS approval of Zyvax® Sealer 1028W EU manufacturers now have access to a fully IPS certified release system consisting of a mold sealer and three approved release agent options: Zyvax® Departure™, Zyvax® TakeOff™, and Zyvax® WaterShield™ EU. Together, these systems support consistent mold preparation and reliable, effortless release performance.
