Integrated Process Solutions for Aluminum Die Casting

When it comes to producing complex aluminum die-cast components, every detail counts. Sister companies SurTec and Chem-Trend – both part of Freudenberg Chemical Specialities – combine their expertise to provide perfectly coordinated process solutions across the entire value chain. At EUROGUSS 2026, taking place from January 13–15 in Nuremberg, the two companies will jointly demonstrate how innovation emerges through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Comprehensive solutions for demanding applications

Aluminum die-cast components play a vital role in many industries – from automotive and e-mobility to machinery and plant engineering. These components must be lightweight, strong, and highly precise, while also meeting demanding requirements for bondability, paintability, and weldability. Ensuring this level of quality requires more than just a high-performance casting process: it depends on the seamless interaction between release agents and downstream surface treatment.

Proven processes from a single source

In joint development projects, expert teams from both companies test various combinations of release agents and surface treatments to create optimal system solutions for high-volume production. Decades of industry experience and deep technological understanding feed into this process. Chem-Trend contributes its expertise as one of the global leaders in die lubricants, while SurTec brings deep know-how in chemical surface treatment. Together, they create an integrated, practice-proven process chain that ensures maximum efficiency and quality.

“The demands in today’s industry are so ambitious and complex that they can only be successfully met through collaborative solutions involving multiple experts,” says Darko Tomazic, Key Account Manager Die Cast Europe at Chem-Trend.

Dr. Yingjia Li, R&D Engineer at SurTec, adds: “Together with Chem-Trend, we offer our customers solutions that go beyond individual process steps. Our coordinated systems create true synergies, ensuring stable processes and reproducible results in series production.”

Focus on e-mobility and new challenges

Requirements are particularly high in the field of e-mobility: large, structurally relevant aluminum components must be produced reproducibly and allow for reliable bonding and coating. The integrated process solutions developed by SurTec and Chem-Trend are thoroughly tested, field-proven, and tailored to meet these evolving industry needs.
